It is a 2014 BMW 320i with the Navigation Package. I tried voice commands with the Navigation package several times and found it quite frustrating. For me the number of mis-understood commands is too high for it to be a useful tool. Furthermore figuring out what the system actually did and correcting it is distracting.

How To: Install Firefox OS (& Other Experimental ROMs) On Your Nexus 5 Without Any Risk

How To: Install Firefox OS (& Other Experimental ROMs) On Your Nexus 5 Without Any Risk
You probably already know by now that a custom Android ROM can change your user experience and give you what feels like a new OS on your device, and there's no shortage of them out there to try out.A great perk of being a Nexus 5 owner is that devs tend to commit resources to Nexus devices first, meaning we have the ability to try out fun stuff like experimental new ROMs before other people do.Thanks to MultiROM Manager, we can safely try new ROMs that might still be a little rough around the edges, like Firefox OS, while keeping our current stable builds—and even switch back and forth between them. Here's how to do just that and try the new Firefox OS, which we'll explore in detail for you. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.
PrerequisitesWorking with custom ROMs means you have to be rooted. A quick download is all you need to do it on your Nexus 5 smartphone. Check out our full rooting guide for the rundown. You also have to install a custom recovery, which is quick and easy. This is an essential step, not only to install Firefox OS, but to restore your backup if you want to go back to your original set up.Finally, you have to have MultiROM Manager installed, which will do all of the ROM switching. Check out our full multi-booting guide on that as well if you don't have it installed yet.

Step 1: Download Firefox OS Zip FileDirect your phone's browser to this link to begin download of the Firefox OS zip file. If you don't want to sign up through the mobile site, download the file to your computer and transfer it over.
Step 2: Reboot into Recovery ModeOnce you've got the Firefox OS .zip file on your device, reboot your phone into Recovery mode.To do this, power down your Nexus completely. Then, hold in the Volume down and Power buttons to boot into your bootloader. Next, use the Volume keys to select Recovery mode and the Power key to make the selection.

Step 3: Flash Firefox OS Using MultiROMWhile in Recovery, go to Advanced -> MultiROM -> Add ROM. Select Android for ROM type, then Don't Share so we can boot Firefox separately and switch back and forth if need be. Images via wonderhowto.com Tap Next, select ZIP file, and navigate to your Downloads folder, then locate and tap the file for FirefoxOS. Swipe the arrow across to flash the Firefox OS and add it to MultiROM, and ultimately to your boot menu. The file name you see above is different from the one you downloaded above. No reason for alarm, this is because the ROM was updated recently, and you're using the latest build. Now, back out of recovery and reboot your Nexus as normal.

Step 4: Boot into Firefox OSWhen your device turns back on, tap the screen as soon as you see MultiROM load. You should now be able to select FirefoxOS as a boot option. Tap it, then tap boot to load it up. You can switch back and forth between Firefox, the ROM you were previously using, or any ROM you add to MultiROM from this menu at anytime.
Using Firefox OS on Your Nexus 5After navigating a few setup menus and a brief tutorial, you'll notice things look a bit different. This is technically a different OS, but it's still got Android at its core, so you shouldn't be that far out of your element. Let's take a look around.
What Doesn't Work in Firefox OSRight off the bat, here's what isn't going to work for you as of this writing:Signal/Network Bluetooth Camera Wi-Fi Basically, while using this ROM, your Nexus 5 is now a device that can't make or receive phone calls, texts, connect to the internet, or take pictures. All in all, there's not a whole lot you can do right now; the key words being right now.Remember, this build is barely a month old—that stuff will come. When it does, we'll take pride in the fact that we were already using Firefox OS and comfortable with it. In the meantime, we'll toy around with it for no greater reason than the fact that we can.

The Home ScreensBy default, Firefox OS has a lock screen enabled. Swipe the slider at the bottom to the left to unlock, a fairly standard mechanic that looks a little different. You'll find that to be the case across much of the OS. Firefox OS has three home screens to start with, the main home screen living furthest to the left. There's an orange bar at the top of the screen that helps spatially represent which screen you're on.Long-press an app icon to move around apps or long-press empty screen space to change the wallpaper.
The Home KeyThere are no nav keys other than a blue globe at the bottom of the screen which functions as a home key.Tap it to return home or long-press it to open a task switcher to open recent apps with cards that scroll to the left and right. You can flick up to close an app. The presentation and process harkens back to an older Windows Phone or the previous version of HTC's Sense on the One X.

Notifications & SettingsNotifications work just how you'd expect. Pull down from the top to drag a notification shade. You can also access some quick settings toggles here in addition to an icon for the settings menu on the far right.

"I'm Thinking Of..."At the top of the main home screen is a search bar with the words "I'm thinking of...". This bar seems to mirror the function of the Google Search bar. Type in keywords here to either launch apps or services, find contacts, or navigate to relevant data in the browser. There's not a whole lot you can do with this right now, but you can tell how dynamic and functional it is, or rather, will be. In fact, if you've tried out the Everything.me launcher, you'll notice some stark similarities. Well, there's a reason for that—Firefox has dedicated their OS to Everything.me's launcher base.

The Stock AppsThe apps appear to function iOS style, in that there is no Android style app drawer. New apps will be placed on the home screen, and widgets also appear to be MIA. The few apps that you can toy around with are pretty functional, albeit bare bones. The clock, calendar, messenger and the like all get the job done. The one screen keyboard is nice and big, though it currently lacks auto-correct.
Firefox OS PerformanceThis definitely isn't the speediest ROM, and touch response seems a bit finicky, as if you really have to flick with intent to move through home screens, but it is stable. With the exception of the features we already know not to work, Firefox OS never crashed on me, and that's really saying something for an early build.Meanwhile, apps open without much hesitation, and animations are in place to ensure we feel a sense of movement.
The Edge of AndroidIt's difficult to judge a ROM that's clearly lacking so many features, but Firefox OS does paint a picture of potential. Its near iOS-style simplicity makes it endearing, and its fonts and presentation certainly give it a style of its own.Once features are added and the OS is tweaked to take advantage of the N5's powerful hardware, we might all find ourselves using Firefox more and more. With MultiROM in your arsenal, you can try out freshly cooked ROMs like Firefox, switch back when you're done, and never miss a beat. It's Android exploration at its best.

How To: Download Music & Video Files onto Your iPhone Without iTunes

How To: Download Music & Video Files onto Your iPhone Without iTunes
Apple prides itself on simplicity, but the company makes downloading video and music files onto your iPad or iPhone an overly complicated process, requiring iTunes and/or iCloud. You can listen to songs sent to you via email, but you can't download them onto your iOS device like you can photos. When it comes to emailed videos, some can be saved, but they must be the proper format (M4V, MP4, MOV), and movie files are obviously too big for emailing. While Android users can simply download files directly from the internet or email and store them on their devices, iPad and iPhone users have to resort to more convoluted workarounds.Jailbreaking or buying pricey file managers makes the job easy, but I'm going to show you a few free and easy ways to download and play video and music files without jailbreaking, buying software, or using iTunes. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

Option #1: Download Your Own Movies & Videos with Infuse 3Infuse 3 is a media player and organizer for iOS that focuses on videos and videos alone. It makes it easy to stream or download pretty much any video file type you throw at it (MKV, AVI, MP4, WMV, etc.) on your iPad or iPhone. There are actually a number of ways to add video files for easy access—via iTunes Sync, FTP, Network Share, File Sharing, and using other apps like Dropbox and Gmail—but the simplest way to download a movie file onto your iPad or iPhone from your computer is with the Browser option. Select the "via Browser" option and ensure that your computer or other device is connected to the same network as your iPhone. In the browser of your choice, enter in the network address that Infuse 3 has created for you. Example: Using Chrome on the same network, videos can be transferred to your iOS device. To add your video, you can either drag and drop it into the browser window or select the "+" sign button and choose your file. It will automatically beginning transferring the video over to your iPad or iPhone. Almost any video file you have on your computer or other device can be added without iTunes or the need to connect any cords. After it's done transferring the video file onto your iPad or iPhone, you'll be able to view it offline. All downloaded videos will be stored locally in Infuse's "Documents & Data" folder; to delete a file, just tap and hold on the video icon in library screen, select the little "x" symbol while its wiggling, and confirm deletion. My movie on my iPhone using Infuse 3 -- no iTunes required! You can download Infuse 3 for free in the iOS App Store. There is an in-app purchase for $9.99 to get Infuse Pro, which adds AirPlay compatibility, Dolby Surround Sound, and more. However, if you just want t to add movie files to your iPhone without iTunes, then the free version will work just fine.

Option #2: Download Web Videos with Video DownloaderVideo Downloader is one of many apps that provides a custom browser where video files can be downloaded directly onto your device. Going to a supported site like Break will give you the chance to download video clips in one tap; just select a video and a save icon will appear inside the video window. Tap on the icon to bring up the option to download the item or copy the link. If you are on a page with multiple videos or downloadable items, the app will allow you to download them all at once. Your pending videos will appear in the "Downloads" section of the app, and once an item is fully downloaded, it will be saved to the "Files" section inside Video Downloader. Just like with Infuse above, these will be stored in the "Documents & Data" folder for Video Downloader. To delete files, just swipe away and confirm. The free version of Video Downloader does have some download limits, but Video Downloader Pro ($3.99) removes all restrictions.
Option #3: Don't Download; Just Make Them Easy to AccessAdmittedly, the following suggestions aren't the prettiest solutions to the dilemma of adding music or videos to your iPhone, but it gets the job done. Instead of downloading files to your device, you can just make them easier to access via Dropbox or home screen shortcuts.

Share to DropboxMy friends often email me songs that they think I should listen to. While I can stream songs via Gmail or the default Mail app, there is no option for me download that file and save it to my iPhone. Again, most videos emailed to you are available to save to the Camera Roll, but for the videos you can't save, this little trick will work for those as well. The workaround solution is to hit the "Share" option, then select "Open in Dropbox," then save the file there. This way, I won't have to reopen my Mail app just to listen to the song, and Dropbox works as a pseudo media player. Bare in mind that you'll still be streaming content from the web, but at least it'll all be in a nice, tidy environment rather than in multiple emails. You can also combine Dropbox media with Infuse 3 using the "via Other Apps" option if you want these videos (songs won't work) on your device's local storage.

Add Them as a Home Screen ShortcutIf your friends simply send you a link to where you can listen and download a certain song, the Dropbox option will not work. Instead, you can actually save that link directly to your iPad or iPhone's home screen.Start by following the link in the email. Once at the URL, select the "Share" icon and tap "Add to Home Screen." Name the link and it will be added to your home screen. With the link set to your home screen, you can select its icon and be automatically taken you to the page where the song exists. So, it's like having the song on your iOS device, only it's via the internet. This trick will work for both music and videos, as well as most other types of links. To see other ways to get music onto your iPhone without using iTunes, make sure to check out my previous guide for your options. And if you have any other tricks for bypassing iTunes, drop us a line in the comments below.

How To: 3 Foolproof Ways to Block or Ignore Annoying Callers on Your Samsung Galaxy S3
You don't have to be in debt to receive annoying calls from unwanted numbers. You may love your grandma, but if she calls you three times a day to ask how to turn on the television, you might just want to push all of her calls to voicemail.Whatever your reason is for blocking a number from calling you, there are many ways to do it on your Samsung Galaxy S3—or any other Android phone—and here are a few of the simplest methods. Please enable JavaScript to watch this video.

How to Add Numbers to Your Auto Reject ListOn your GS3, you can add any phone number you want to a reject list. When contacts on this list call you, they will automatically be ignored and sent to your voicemail. It doesn't get much easier than that. You can add a person to the reject list from the Contacts app, or by finding the number in your call Logs if you don't already have it programmed in. Just tap and hold the number or contact and a small menu will pop up. When you press Add to reject list, you'll be shown a second message to confirm. Press OK and that number shouldn't be bothering you again. This doesn't disable them from leaving voicemails, but at least your phone won't ring anymore when they call.

How to Remove Numbers from Auto-RejectIf the guilt of not answering your poor old grandmother right away is starting to eat away at you, you can simply go to Call settings in the Phone app, then hit Call rejection, then Auto reject list, and remove the number.

How to Set a Silent Ringtone for Annoying CallersAnother way to avoid annoying callers is to silence their ringer. You'd think you could just go to your ringtones and select silent, but unfortunately a silent ringtone does not exist on the GS3. You can make your whole phone silent, but that would defeat the purpose of selectively ignoring a specific number. So, you will need to download a silent ringtone and add it to your phone. You can search for a silent ringtone .apk or download an app like Zedge and install a silent ringer from there. Once you find a silent ringer, hit Set to bring up the menu. From there, select Contact Ringtone and choose the contact you wish to silence. Now, you can check the contact info to make sure it applied correctly.

Manage Your Call Blocks with Third-Party SolutionsThere are a bunch of third-party applications that help S3 owners screen incoming calls. You can do a quick search for a call blocker or try one of these three trusted and highly rated applications.Mr. Number WhosCall Calls Blacklist Images via ggpht.com With these apps, you can block calls from unknown numbers, block texts from crazy exes, and create blacklists for groups of people you would rather not talk to.
How to Block Your Number from Showing Up to OthersNow that you know how to properly block calls, you probably want to know how to not get blocked yourself. If you don't want anyone screening your calls, there are several ways to block your number from appearing on their caller ID.Questions or feedback? Leave them in the comments section below.

How To: Organize Tasks Better & Increase Your Overall Productivity with Trello

How To: Organize Tasks Better & Increase Your Overall Productivity with Trello
What separates the work habits of the ultra-productive from us mere mortals struggling to check items off our never ending to-do lists? While the answer to that question is by no means simple, one undeniable factor in their success is a clearly defined, highly organized workflow.Enter Trello, a deceptively simple web and mobile app. At first glance, it appears to be little more than a standard to-do list, and when I first downloaded it, I didn't really understand what all the hype was about—until I actually started putting it to use.Trello's developers, Fog Creek Software, describe their app as "a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards". In one glance, Trello tells you what's being worked on, who's working on what, and where something is in a process.
Trello can be used to plan, track, organize, and collaborate on projects of any size and type, from planning a family vacation to launching your new startup.

Step 1: Install & Set Up TrelloYou can sign up and use Trello straight from their website, or if you're on mobile, you can do the same from their Android, iOS, or Windows apps. In this guide, I'll be working with the Android version. When you first open the app, tap on the Sign Up - It's Free! button (or Log In if you already have an account). You will be shown a list of the Google accounts currently set up on your device; choose which one you would like your Trello account associated with and you are done. (1) The signup/login screen, (2) Android auto-chooses you Google account. Note: Signing up within the Android app forces you to use a Google account as your login credentials. If you would prefer to use a different email, you can simply create an account using the Trello website or the iOS app and log in to that account on your Android device.

Step 2: Create Your First BoardTapping the Trello logo at the top left of the screen will slide out a navigation drawer. From here, you can select Create Board. A popup box will appear where you can name your board, associate it with an organization (you can ignore this for now), and set it to be private or public. (1) Your new empty board, (2) Creating a new board. By default, a new board contains three lists which you can swipe between—To Do, Doing, and Done—and represents a very simple but very common set of workflow statuses. These lists can be easily changed and additional lists can be added, however, it is important not to think of Trello as just a list of lists. Think of Trello as a giant corkboard on your wall. Each list is a column on the corkboard that represents the current status of each item in that column. (1) To Do, (2) Doing, (3) Done. You should set up each board's lists to reflect the specific workflow structure of that project. For example, if you were creating an Android app, your lists might look something like this:To Do -> In Development -> In Testing -> Done -> Scrapped -> On Hold Note that the last two lists hold ideas that have been removed from the workflow. Personally, I do not like to delete ideas as sometimes they may be worth revisiting down the road.

Step 3: Create Some CardsAt the bottom of each list is an ADD CARD button. Clicking that will allow you to easily add multiple cards to that list. At this point, each card is just a title, however, all sorts of useful information can be added to your cards. To do this, simply tap the card. From here you can add a more detailed description and see the card's activity at a glance. There is a large plus sign at the bottom right of this screen. Clicking that will allow you to add custom labels, a due date, check lists, files, photos and comments to your card. To move a card from one list to another, simply long press and drag it to the list that represents its current status.Think of each card as a note pinned to your corkboard. That note represents one small component of your overall project and your goal is to move it through the different phases of your workflow, your lists.A mistake that I made when first using Trello was not making my cards granular enough. Avoid making cards that are compound tasks, for example, instead of making a single card called "Market my website on social media", make several cards that break down that task, like Start Facebook ad campaign, Set up Twitter profile, Configure automatic posting, etc. This will prevent you from having cards that are stuck in between statuses.

Step 4: Collaborate with OthersOne of Trello's most powerful features is its ability to allow collaboration on projects with your co-worker, partners, and friends. Sharing boards is extremely simple: From within your board, tap the drop-down menu (it will say the name of your board and have the word board underneath it), then select members. Here you will see a list of members currently associated with this board. Simply tap the person symbol in the upper right of the screen to add more collaborators, either from your contact list or by username/email. Once the new member is added, they will receive a notification and have access to your board. You can revoke a member's access to your project from the same screen by tapping the X to the right of their name. You can even select which users have access to specific cards by tapping the same big plus sign symbol that you used to add attributes to each card, then selecting the person symbol. From there you can select which user can see and work with this card, making it easy to assign portions of a project to specific users or keep certain tasks private.

Get. Stuff. Done.Trello is a simple but powerful tool that can be adapted to work with virtually any project you might throw at it. Personally, I use it for virtually everything I do and have seen a noticeable increase in my productivity. Another benefit of Trello is that it makes it easier to quickly switch between projects without having to waste excessive time trying to remember where you were and what you still have to get done.Try out Trello and get one step closer to the ranks of the ultra-productive.
